LinQd out #5 – A Post Election Ride

·

The widely anticipated national election, here in the US, is only weeks old. (At least for most of the country).

But rather than leaving the dust to settle, the historic event continues to be a wild ride!

Let’s rundown some of the more interesting bits

Ima call this the Cryptoller Coaster.

  • We’ve seen some lows, but mostly highs. The bulls are definitely running optimistic as Trump has pledged all in for crypto and $BTC
  • Also fueling the optimism is the likelihood that crypto’s mortal foe over at the SEC will soon be vanquished. With the possibility of even being punished.
  • Speaking of being punished, Polymarket was one of the winners on the internet from the election. However, they may have found themselves in the crosshairs of the losers. But sometimes, you just can’t keep a good thing down when there’s momentum.
  • Other winners appearing to ride the red wave, aside from $BTC, are Ripple and the DOGE.
  • Ripple’s been riding their own SEC roller coaster over the past couple of years. But now, hope arises that the ride is mercifully coming to an end. And that has $XRP soaring.
  • Also looking to emerge victoriously from their court battle is the ever-resilient Dogecoin. All just in time to enjoy some free publicity from Elon’s newly minted Dept Of Government Efficiency (aka D.O.G.E.).

Let’s stay in the new internet world for a bit longer.

  • The amount of election info and disinfo flying through the information superhighway over the past several years has been mindblowing. But crisis often creates opportunity. I mentioned this recently in highlighting a couple of companies capitalizing on determining truth and authenticity.
  • One of them is San Diego based, Truepic, who also seeks to cover several different verticals. But at the core is the focus on certifying authentic digital media.
  • The other is FoxNews, their VERIFY tool. Yes – that FoxNews. This Coindesk podcast with the person spearheading that project is quite interesting.

Whatever one might think about AI, it’s here to stay. And it’s still learning. Mostly.

WordPress has also been on a ride. But let’s start on a positive note…

  • One of my favorite WP devs, now with WPEngine, took a sneak peak and also seemed excited about the latest update.Speaking of WPEngine…
  • I can’t tell if the war is heating up, stagnating, or cooling down between Matt and SilverLake. If you haven’t been following this dispute, you can get caught up starting right here. At any rate, I think everyone in the community is ready for things to move more towards a positive tone within the community.
  • It wouldn’t be a real WP LINQD OUT section if some kind of security issue wasn’t mentioned. So here’s the most recent one that affects around 4 million websites.
  • Both WordFence and SolidWP do a great job posting a complete list of WP related vulnerabilities

We started on a positive note, let’s end this section on one as well.

Welp, I hope you enjoyed the warm ‘n fuzzies from that last video. Because ’tis the season is upon us!

And that means scams…

  • eCommerce stores blew up during the lockdowns. Now, Patchstack wants to help us all lockdown our online stores. Listen up!
  • Many will let their guard down as Black Friday starts to ramp up. Keeper Security says to keep our wits about us. Especially with all the Amazon shopping that will be taking place.

The last 2 items don’t really have a place this time, but I’ll just drop them here in the Biz category

  • Shameless plug incoming! I just launched a thing. Please have a look.
  • Lastly, a reminder NOT to place all your SEO eggs in one Google basket, as a certain wise person once put it. Check out this interdasting vid…

And with that – I’m all LINQD OUT!
